Your Leadership Link by Cullen S. Gibson, Vice President
Rear End
It is hard to believe that 2024 has arrived! As those in positions of leadership, it is incumbent upon us to remember, reflect, and reload as we cross over into 2024. Why? Because we have entering new ground.
Indeed, take note of those past situations that shaped and molded you and even changed you. These same situations may even bring memories like “I hope that never happens again,” or “I am not going enter that space again without being more prepared.”
I rear-ended a car in 2023. I wasn’t paying attention. The passenger in the other car was not injured. I felt so bad. I was not happy with myself and I more than likely ruined her weekend. I have no plans in being in that situation again. As I reflect on that situation, I have decided that I am going to be a more alert driver. As I think of that day, I was running late. I wasn’t prepared. I was annoyed and not paying attention as I was driving. I did not “load” myself correctly for that day. Lack of sleep, worry, and anxiety were probably running through my mind. It was all about me. I wasn’t thinking of others. I was acting selfishly.
In 2024, I want to get even better at thinking of others first before I think of my own self, reputation, or career. I am going to esteem others better than myself.
Happy New Year!!
