In the fall of 2007 the local elementary school (Ossian Elementary School) initiated an “Adopt a Grandparent” program. The elementary school children, their parents and the teachers visit the nursing home on a regular basis. The children and their families have made home made crafts and purchased gifts for every single resident in the nursing home. During Thanksgiving break some of the students and teachers visited the residents who were in the hospital! At Christmas the children and their families purchased gifts for every resident. The school purchased sweatshirts for the residents. The residents wear those sweatshirts with a great sense of pride. The residents travel to the school occasionally to visit with the students and their teachers. It is impossible to articulate the value of the relationship we now have with the school, the students, the parents and the teachers. It has been amazing to witness such care and concern from all involved!
Ossian Health & Rehab Center offers outstanding physical, occupational and speech therapy programs. The therapists within each discipline take tremendous pride in assisting residents in meeting their personal goals and helping residents return to their homes.
